Well, I thought that I would turn up early for once, but I was beaten by a good number of enthusiastic folk. Given that the date clashed with the Moffat show, which was an unfortunate coincidence brought about by availability of dates, we fielded a good number of cars of all shapes and sizes and picked up 4 new members to boot – Welcome to the Club!
The weather was a bit iffy at times but all in all it was a good day (and the free scones and coffee helped!).
George B found a young chap photographing his latest addition and on chatting to said chap, discovered that he worked for Bentley Sales (Edinburgh) and has popped some lovely pics the car on their FaceBook page which you can see below – I’m sure you’ll agree that some favourable publicity for the club such as that is never a bad thing! Looking good George!
HELP NEEDED WITH SELECTION OF A PA SYSTEM
It has become increasingly obvious as we fill up the Ford Hall at Kingcase Church with members, that the acoustics sometimes leaves the folk at the back of the room unable to hear speakers. Therefore, your committee felt that it would be appropriate for the Club to purchase a portable PA system perhaps with a blue-tooth portable microphone. However, we are none of us experts in this field and to make a selection we will have to rely on the likes of Amazon. If there is anyone out there who can contribute to the discussion, we would love to hear from you (no pun intended).
‘MID YEAR’ DINNER AT THE SAVOY PARK FRIDAY 30TH AUG 19
Yea, it is £25 per head for Club members and their partners.
Guests will be £30 per head.
For that you will be able to relax in good company in a pleasant environment having enjoyed a welcome drink of suitable bubbly or a softee followed by a 3 course meal which will be accompanied by wine and or soft drinks and topped off by coffee and la liqueur. Now how can you refuse?
If you fear that the alcohol might go to your head, book a room in the Savoy Park by contacting them direct and don’t forget to mention the Club for your discounted room.
A word to the wise – Rooms are disappearing quickly so act soon to secure.
To book places at this awesome event (OK awesome might be a little of an exaggeration) please ensure that you have paid John
McSpadyen the requisite amount. His address is 12 Landsborough Drive, Kilmarnock KA31RY firstname.lastname@example.org
CLUB NIGHT PRESENTATIONS
We would love to hear from more of you at Club Nights. Stu is doing a sterling recruiting job for outside presenters, but it would be nice if this could be leavened by a chat from you folks. Perhaps you have a story to tell about your car or maybe something else? Do please have a chat to Stu at the next, or any meeting, if you would like to speak….our members love listening to our members and you will find that once you get going the audience will be rooting for you …so go on, give it a go!
NEXT MEETING 11 JUL 19
FORD HALL KINGCASE PARISH CHURCH PRESTWICK
If you had a mini-moke would you drive it all over the North of Scotland given its well known weatherproof characteristics?
Well stand by – Keith Hall of Club regalia fame and his brother Ray did just that for charity and he will tell us all about it (well maybe not all) at the next meeting.
A THOUGHT ABOUT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
As you know, the AGM has traditionally been held in February a couple of months before Cars On the Campus (ConC).
It has been suggested quite reasonably that if there was to be a change of committee in February, it would interfere with the planning of our show.
Clearly we wish to protect our major event, so if the Club is happy, we suggest that the AGM should re-scheduled to May.
Please consider this suggestion and I would welcome your views.
