Bravo Kames !
It has been a long time coming but Saturday saw us attend an actual Car Show!
Before we even start with this report, our warm congratulations & thanks go to those at East Ayrshire Car Club / Kames Car Show / Scottish Old Skool who worked tirelessly to deliver a great, safe show under circumstances none of us could have foreseen a year ago – Well done to all.
In excess of 25 Ayrshire Classics members congregated at the usual lay-by outside Lugar at 8am to head to the first show of the year at Kames Motorsport Complex and having had a quick chat and checked everyone was in possession of the requisite face masks & sanitiser, we headed to the well organised one-way system and entrance to the show.
Brian & Johnny had arrived the previous evening to erect the club ‘shelter’ so it wasn’t long before everyone was parked and comfy.
The weather behaved and we were treated to a dry day with occasional sunshine – no complaints from us. We were just happy to be safely enjoying some fine & varied vehicles.
The ‘one-way-system’ was very well observed for cars & spectators alike and regular checks by the stewards & representatives reassured everyone that we were enjoying the day responsibly.
Kames is large, spacious complex and every inch had been utilised to make sure the displays were comfortably separated with one of the most diverse cross-section of classic, retro & modern machinery we’ve seen at this event.
The day went all too quickly and the judging saw ACCC Member Willie Maitland scoop the ‘Best in Show pre-1999’ award on his first outing in his gorgeous Morris Minor Van – Well done that man!
As always, there is a selection of photographs to give you a flavour of the day and a couple of videos for your viewing pleasure.
This show caper could catch on – we must do this again 😉
