GVVT October ‘Open Weekend’ cancelled

Sadly, we have to report that another ‘end of season favourite’ has been cancelled

The Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust made the statement below regarding their Open Weekend at Bridgeton Bus Garage:

The Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust regrets to announce that the Open Weekend scheduled for 10th and 11th October 2020 has been cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but we’re sure you’ll understand that this decision has been made in the best interests of everyone. While our sorts of activities were not explicitly cited in yesterday’s Government announcements about the new COVID-19 control measures, we have taken full consideration of them.

We understand that some will be disappointed. However, public health and the welfare our members and visitors is of the utmost importance at all times. Having reflected on it, while we would have loved to put on an event and have some enjoyment with it (both for us and our visitors), we have to recognise that what we do is not essential. We didn’t feel that carrying on with the event was in the spirit of this most recent announcement, eventhough we were satisfied we had strong controls to put in place.
Over the next few days we’ll be processing refunds for all the tickets purchased so look out for that coming through.

In the meantime, the trustees are looking at options to get some of the buses out on the streets in the near future. We’ll hopefully share more information about that soon.

Thank you for your continued support to the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust and please do all that you can to keep yourself and others safe!

Best wishes,
Steven Booth
Chairman

For and on behalf of the trustees of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust
