Covid restrictions split our lunching intentions into two groups on the day due to the overall numbers attending. A great success, George, well done!
After forgathering at Dobbie’s Garden Centre outside Ayr, we set off for Thornhill – a few brave souls with their ”taps aff”, albeit still wrapped up well.
An enjoyable drive through the countryside saw us arriving at Thornhill at 12.20pm in nice time for lunch.
The “Valley Mob” were dining at The Buccleuch and Queensberry Hotel where tables had been set up outside in their Beer Garden which, whilst being very aesthetic, was very cold.
The favoured food was pasta or fish and chips and was good value.
In the traditional seating arrangement we had a table for the boys, Reg, Paul, Bill, Martin, Ron, Ian and John. The girls had their own table with Kath, Jill, Mags, Rhona, Marjory and Christine.
After they had eaten they left us boys with the bill for their food and wine and set off to Thomas Tosh for a heat and coffee.
Eventually they all made their way up to ‘101 Boutique‘, a posh ladies shop where money was spent whilst 6 husbands looked on, stood outside waiting patiently!
We arrived at Thornhill in 19 degrees and left in 14 just as a shower of rain started so “taps on”.
A good day out, especially for the lassies!
