Re-opening of the Doon Valley Railway @ Dunaskin

ACCC were invited to display at Dunaskin to celebrate the re-opening of the Doon Valley Railway last Saturday and were delighted to attend!

The Doon Valley Railway is operated by the Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group, which was formed in 1974 to keep steam alive in Ayrshire.

Their aim is to create a living museum where historically significant industrial steam and diesel locomotives can be seen working in Scotland’s last authentic industrial railway setting.

Their locomotive collection is largely based upon engines which worked in the Doon Valley.

The day began with members meeting at Heathfield & Dobbies before taking the short trip to Dunaskin to ‘park up’.

There were around 20 vehicles and entertainment for the younger audience was available from ‘Uncle Billy’ and the ‘Signal Box Cafe’ was open to keep everyone fed & watered.
