This Thursday sees our last ‘Normal’ meeting of the year (are they ever normal?)
We have speaker Bob McMillan to give us a talk entitled ‘Ayrshire at War’ and tea, coffees and biscuits for £1 with all profits going to charity as always.
The meeting will be at the usual location of Ford Hall, The Kingcase Church Hall, 11 Waterloo Road, Prestwick KA9 2AA.
It will run from 7:15pm to 9:30pm and all the Covid regulations mentioned last month will still be in force.
We look forward to seeing you on the night.
Alloway Primary Visit
Thanks to the dozen members who went along to Alloway Primary to assist with the ‘Transportation’ topic and show their vehicles to the pupils. Weren’t they enthusiastic?
We had a spread of vehicles from 1950’s till almost present day, giving a real flavour of how technology and taste has evolved over the intervening 70 years.
There is a short video below:
NEC Classic Car Show
Friday the 12th of November sees the biggest indoor car show of the year at the NEC in Birmingham; The Lancaster Insurance Classic Car Show. It’s the first one since the start of Covid and it’s been missed!
Is anyone going down this year?
Tony will be there with his camera, so there will be a ‘show report’ on the site (and doubtless a car boot loaded with parts for his cars….)
Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive
Thanks to everyone who donated to ‘The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive’ – We raised £367 ($500) and were the 10th best ‘team effort’ globally (which wasn’t bad for something we didn’t start organising till a week before it!). We’ll do it bigger and better next year!
Here is the official total from the DGD organisers:
“The 2021 Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive has concluded with 54 countries, 143 cities and 4,232 drivers raising $228,245 USD for the cause. This is a huge achievement, and could not be done without the support of you all. Thank you for driving dapper, and for helping to grow this wonderful community.”
