Who doesn’t love a Bacon Roll, a Cuppa, the smell of Petrol and a chat about Cars & Motorbikes?
I’m guessing that if you’re reading this then that sounds right up your street.
Sunday the 21st of August saw the opening event of the new ‘Route 71‘ venture in Galston – a ‘Cars & Coffee’ meet which ran from 9am till 3pm with all lovers of motorised vehicles invited. I (finally) reassembled the MGB just in time to take it along and sample the day. It’s only 4 miles away for me so I was reasonably confident I’d make it there and back in one piece 😉
What better way to have a shakedown drive?
There were a host of local businesses supporting the event with catering, automobilia and tools as well as music from local artist Cassy Lockhart who shot the video for her now song ‘Drifter’ at the diner a couple of weeks ago. The ‘Route 71 Diner‘ was serving hot food and drinks supported by ‘Ground Control‘ mobile barista, ‘Get Stacked‘ pancake van, ‘Kennedys Ices‘ & ‘The Ice Hut‘ from Crookedholm. ‘Tins & Skins‘, ‘The Sticker Man‘ & ‘Tool Col‘ were on hand for anyone looking for automobilia or tools and it was great to see the number of attendees from around East Ayrshire (and beyond!) to support the venture.
They are looking to hold the Cars & Coffee events on the third Sunday of every month and there are big plans for the rest of the unit with secure vehicle storage and maintenance area being added to their offering.
Outside of the ‘Cars & Coffee’ meets, their next event is provisionally on Sunday, September 4th and is an auto jumble / swap meet / motorcycle jumble. Visit their Facebook for more details or to book a pitch.
There is a short video below of the day to give you a flavour of the event if you didn’t make it along.
