Sunday the 25th of September saw a slew of cars and a division of Dapper Gents and Ladies convene at Rugby Park Kilmarnock, ready to ‘Drive Dapper’ to the Lanarkshire Classic Car Club meet at Greenside Garden Centre, all in aid of Men’s Health Charities.
Despite one starting issue which held a certain member up (Yes, guilty as charged…), there were no issues on the day with all vehicles and occupants being counted out and counted back in!
Even the weather largely behaved until the drive home…
We were delighted to welcome two Dapper Chaps, Grant Watson & Fraser Preston in their 1970 Triumph Herald 13/60 who transferred from the cancelled Edinburgh run to join us – fabulous efforts Gents!
We had a leisurely drive on the less travelled A71 route through the Irvine Valley, Strathaven and on through Newhouse to the destination to join the meet at the garden centre and sample the tea and bacon rolls before wandering round the assembled vehicles and chatting to the owners. We met up with a number of club members there who had come from different locations and, typically, we were amongst the last to leave, with the chat holding us all back.
We headed back towards Ayrshire and stopped off in The Heron tearoom for a bowl of soup, a sandwich and some more chat before heading off home having had a lovely Sunday out and having raised some much needed money for a great cause!
You can still donate before the deadline of October 10th by clicking ‘HERE’ and add to our ‘Drive Total’ which currently stands at £568 – Thanks & well done to all who contributed, are about to, or took part!
