Our annual trip ‘Across the Water’
We always look forward to this show. It’s lovely, friendly show in a beautiful setting that attracts a diverse array of vehicles and invariably sunshine too (more on the weather later).
We set off bright and early towards our meeting spot at 7am in Stevenston before heading towards the ferry at Largs in convoy in time for the 7:30am ferry to Cumbrae (which turned out to be a rather good decision by Brian!)
After our short trip ‘across the water’ we took a leisurely drive towards Millport and arrived at the Garrison House just in time to park up and then see a fog bank roll in which turned out to be thick enough to postpone the next ferry sailing (but not thick enough to stop Tony getting his traditional sunburned neck…..)
Despite the delays the show soon filled up with around 170 cars of all types and the sun broke through to light up proceedings.
The Garrison Cafe did a roaring trade in Bacon Rolls, Scones & Soup, all of which come highly recommended.
The chat was great with chairs pitched up and everyone relaxing and enjoying the cars before heading back over to Largs for the drive home.
Congratulations go to the organisers for yet again putting on one of our favourite shows of the year.
There is a short video below of the day for your enjoyment.
(We know we’re missing a show report of Cars on the Campus – We’ll post it later this week once Tony finishes the video!)
